Walter Lee DeLong, 58, of West Milton, formerly of Troxelville, passed away unexpectently on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 due to a boating accident while fishing on the Susquehanna River, Upper Augusta Twp., Northumberland County.
He was born on July 25, 1958 in Lewisburg, the son of the late Ammon Franklin and Margaret Eileen (Bartley) DeLong. On December 6, 1980, in Lewisburg, he married the former Velma Eileen Graham, who survives.
Walter worked as the maintenance person at Central Oak Heights Association, West Milton since 2003. Earlier in life he worked for D&S Plumbing, Mifflinburg; Mattern’s Hatchery, Beaver Springs; and Sun Precast, Co., Beavertown.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially archery, and turkey hunting.
Walt was willing to help anyone, and was well liked by everyone. He was a wonderful woodworker and made many pieces for family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 35 years are one daughter, Beth Ann Weikel of Northumberland, a son, Steven Lee DeLong of Lewisburg, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron and Sue DeLong of Paxtonville, David and Debbie DeLong of Mifflinburg, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judy and Marlin George of Mifflinburg, Joyce Spaid of Middleburg.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 1 to 3 PM on Sunday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 3, with Pastor James Kline, Jr, officiating.
