Velma Irene Troup

October 28, 1939 — January 12, 2018

Velma Irene Troup, 78, of Lewisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:24 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the home of her son, Carl, in Lewisburg.

She was born on October 28, 1939 in West Buffalo Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Dorothy Mae (Scholl) and Dayton Leroy Walls, Sr.  On October 02, 1954, she married Donald Lee Troup, who passed away on January 25, 2017.

Velma was a homemaker.  Earlier in life, she worked at Milton Shoe Factory, J.P.M., Lewisburg, and Mifflinburg IGA Bakery.

She was a member of Lewisburg Bible Church where she taught children’s Sunday school and served on the hospitality committee and in the children's nursery.

She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their sports activities. She loved to cook and bake, and would often share her pies with family and friends.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Troup of Lewisburg, Glenn and Linda Troup of Lewisburg, Carl and Penny Troup of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Justin Troup, Steven Troup, Sarah Schutt, Eric Troup, Brandon Troup; nine great-grandchildren, Arnold Troup, Kyler Troup, Ellie Troup, Libby Troup, Heather Schutt, Hudson Troup, Vivian Troup, Miles Troup, Abrahm Stankiewicz; six sisters, Martha Girvin, Shirley Allen, Jean Walls, Dorothy Leitzel, Kay Keister, Sandra Shoemaker; and two brothers Donald Walls and Kenneth Walls.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Dayton Walls, Jr., Robert Walls, Dale Walls, and William Walls.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11 on Tuesday at the Lewisburg Bible Church 311 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11, with Rev. Roger L. Wenger, officiating.

Interment will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Velma's memory may be sent to Lewisburg Bible Church.
