Thomas Hardy Collard, III, beloved husband, father, sibling and
friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2024, at the age of 70.
Born on October 2, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Tom Jr.
and Lois Collard, Tom spent a vibrant childhood surrounded by the
warmth of his siblings, cousins and friends until he moved to the
central Austin area as a young adult. In Austin, Tom started a
successful restaurant equipment repair company called Texas Pyrotech,
which later specialized in barbecue smokers. He ran Texas Pyrotech
alongside his oldest son, who continues to operate the business,
ensuring that the family legacy continues.
In semi-retirement, Tom found tranquility with his wife in
Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, where the locals knew him as “Texas Tom”.
He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his property, and traveling to
new destinations. He cherished the quiet charm of the area but also
loved exploring while remaining involved in the business he loved. Tom
had a passion for barbecue and loved sharing his cooking with family,
friends, and neighbors.
Tom deeply loved his wife, sons, grandchildren and entire family. He
is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sandy, two sons, Thomas (Lindey)
Collard, IV and William (Jackie) Collard, stepdaughter, Ashley (Tony)
Lewis, four grandchildren, Emilia and Nora Collard, Oliver and
Madeleine Lewis, sister, Susan (Blaine) Wise, her two daughters,
Christi (Michael) and Kelli, brother, Michael (Lisa) Collard, his two
sons Scott and Steven and many others.
His sudden departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who
knew him. Tom will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the
indelible mark he left on everyone he met.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation, Saturday, October 12,
2024, beginning at 10:00 AM at Adamo Funeral Home, 16 Walnut Street,
Mifflinburg, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM with Rev.
Robert Rice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas's memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
In addition, family and friends are also invited to a Celebration of Life
held in San Antonio on October 26, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM at The
Big Bib BBQ, 104 Lanark, San Antonio, Texas. Please come and bring a
story or anecdote to share about Tom. Tropical Hawaiian shirts or
Harley Davidson shirts are strongly encouraged for attire.
Rest in peace, Texas Tom. You will be profoundly missed.
