Santo W. “Sandy” Adamo, 72, Westover, entered into rest at 2:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020 at home.
Born June 3, 1948, in Spangler, the son of the late Dominick and Jean (Patterson) Adamo. On September 17, 1983 at East Ridge Harmony Methodist Church he married the former Eileen Gaston who survives.
He was a graduate of Harmony High School class of 1966.
Sandy proudly served as a Sgt. In the U.S. Marines Corp. during the Vietnam Era.
Sandy was a member of the East Ridge Harmony United Methodist Church and Cherry Tree United Methodist Church.
He served as past president on the Harmony Area School Board and the Westover Boro. Served on The Westover Municipal Authority Board; Local Emergency Management Coordinator for Burnside Township and Westover Boro as well as assisting Chest Township, and a member of Barnesboro American Legion.
Sandy started as a Junior member of the Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Company then became a founding member of the Westover Area Volunteer Fire Company, where he served 19 years as the Fire Chief, as well as a Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief and Trustee, finally becoming a lifetime member.
Formerly employed by Fairman Corp. in Dubois as the Gas Production Manager. He previously worked for Barnes and Tucker Mine #25, and Greenwich Collieries mines.
Sandy enjoyed watching wildlife and attending to his property. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, he will be deeply missed by many.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 36 years, Eileen, is a son, Dominick T. Adamo of Lewisburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Josh Conklin of Curwensville; Amanda and PJ Shell of Northern Cambria; Toni and Leo Chernisky of Hastings, one sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Dennis Snyder and one brother and sister-in-law, Garland "Drew" and Sally Adamo, both of Cherry Tree; nine grandchildren, Maverick, Sawyer, Lincoln, Delilah, Kathryn, Shannon, Derek, Haylee, Isaac.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at The Westover Park.
Interment with full military honors will be in East Ridge Cemetery.
