Rosalie Faye Roush, 74, of 33 Laurel Street, Mifflinburg entered into eternal rest at 7:22 pm on Monday, January 7, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on April 8, 1938 in, Danville, the daughter of the late Harold Robert and Kathryn Violet (Bailey) Kessler. On September 21, 1957, she married Joseph A. McElroy III, Captain, USMC, who preceded her in death on September 1, 1996. She later remarried and widowed.
Rosalie attended Middleburg Schools and graduated from Selinsgrove High School, class of 1956.
Rosalie was a homemaker most of her life.
Rosalie was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She regularly attended all charge wide services, served on the pastor-parish relations committee, served on the future committee for the new Buffalo Valley United Methodist Church; of which her funeral will be first service of the newly formed church, she attended the ladies bible study group, and was of great encouragement and inspiration to people of all four churches in the charge with her strong faith in Jesus Christ.
Rosalie enjoyed picnics, taking rides in the mountains, writing and sharing her poems, Penn State football, Sunday dinners with family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She recently commented about her great-grandchildren, "They give me the will to fight this Cancer".
Surviving are one son Joseph A. McElroy IV of Mifflinburg; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn A. and Bret Umbel of Mifflinburg, Bethany L. McElroy and James Brooking of Burlington, VT, five grandchildren, Joseph A. McElroy V, Jordan P. McElroy, Bret Michael Umbel, Daniel Umbel husband of Erica, Emilee Kurtz wife of Andy, great grandchildren, Sydney Grace Umbel, Lincoln, and Bayleigh Kurtz, three brothers and two sisters-in-laws, Robert and Deanna Kessler of Fredericksburg VA, Vernon and Cynthia Mull of Foster City, CA ,and David Mull of Middleburg.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 to 12 on Saturday at the Buffalo Valley United Methodist Church, 954 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg, (the former Buffalo Crossroads Elementary School) where the funeral will be held at Noon, with the Rev. Daniel H. Hicks, officiating.
