Richard R. Houtz, 74, of 311 File Road, Milton went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born on April 27, 1938 in Beavertown, the son of the late Jerome R. and Catherine C. (Pridex) Houtz. On June 22, 1957, he married the former Betty J. Walter, who survives.
Richard worked for Watsontown Brick Company, retiring after 50 years of service. He also worked part time at Yocum Motorsports, Milton.
He was a member of the National Rife Association.
Richard enjoyed hunting, camping, watching Western movies, doing word find puzzles, and spending time with his dogs. He was always willing to help friends and family with projects.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Daniel Rider of Milton, Susan and Ray Kohler of Souderton, Barbara and Dave West of Hunlock Creek, one son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Mary Houtz of Milton, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, five sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary Jane and Paul Romig of Beavertown, Emma and Marvin Herman of Selinsgrove, Jean and Myron Edinger of Lewisburg, Faye and Randall Mowery of Beavertown, Kay and Allen Reich of Beavertown, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Betty Houtz of Beavertown, William and Linda Houtz of Beavertown, one brother-in-law, Charles Delong of Middleburg, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son John Houtz in infancy, two sisters, Miriam Delong, Ruth Moyer, three siblings in infancy; John, Lee, and Helen, and one brother-in-law, Luther Moyer.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg and from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the St. Peter's Independent Bible Church, 7812 Middle Road, Beavertown, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with the Rev. Alvin Smith, officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Peter's Independent Bible Church Cemetery.
