Richard Lewis Herbert, 84, of Mifflinburg entered into rest on Sunday Sept. 5, 2021 at his residence.
Born on December 2, 1936 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Lewis Brown and Clare Alice (Morehead) Herbert. On June 2, 1962, he married the former Lenora Barbara Lucchesi, who preceded him in death.
As a young man Dick served in the New Jersey National Guard in the late 1950's and then he served in the US Army National Guard Reserves until 1962.
He studied as a physics major at Fordham University and MIT for computer science for the ATT Company. His career in computer networking, sales, and management spanned from 1963 until retirement in 1995. Locally, Dick worked as nursery manager at Dogwood Hills Nursery from 1996 to 2002 and then as a sales assistant at both Ace Hardware and Mifflinburg Lumber.
Dick was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, where he served as assistant coordinator for religious education for a time.
As an avid reader, Dick read on average 3 to 4 books a week. He and his wife, Lenore enjoyed frequenting their favorite local restaurants,
Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Norelyn Jane and Joseph Klemick of Lewisburg, one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Deirdre Herbert of South Riding, VA, 7 grandchildren, brother, James and Delphina Herbert of Sarasota FL, Edna Haywood of Westminster, DE, one brother-in-law, Gary Lucchesi of North Hackensack, NJ and a nephew, Adam Lucchesi of River Edge, NJ
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 1 to 2 pm on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 at Adamo Funeral Home, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg, where a Catholic funeral rite will be said at 2, with the Rev. Matthew R. Larlick as celebrant.
Final Farewell and Commendation will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery.
