Paul High Kilmer, 79, of 12901 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, formerly of Lancaster and Snyder County entered into rest at 1:47 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family. Paul moved from Lancaster County to Snyder County in 1968, where he resided for 36 years before moving to Mifflinburg in 2004.
He was born on February 11, 1933 in Earl Township, Lancaster County, the son of the late Ezra Z. Kilmer and Ada (High) Kilmer. On August 30, 1952, he married the former Naomi King Zook, who survives. On August 30th they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Paul was a faithful member of Millmont Mennonite Church since 1968, where he served as an usher and custodian.
While residing in Lancaster County, Paul drove portable hammer mill for C. P. Wenger of Ephrata, and drove tractor trailer truck for Weavers Poultry of New Holland. After moving to Snyder County he operated a small dairy farm. He also worked as a carpenter, delivered camping trailer for Thor Industries of Middleburg, and Cite Air, drove a delivery route for R. L. Hackman Distributors, Lewisburg, and hauled produce for local farmers to the Buffalo Valley Produce Auction.
He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, sewing comfort tops and school kit bags for the sewing circle.
Surviving in addition to his wife are; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon L. and Elsie Kilmer of Shippensburg, Lloyd Z. and Brenda Kilmer of Mifflinburg, two daughters and son-in-law; Evelyn F. Martin of Millmont, Lois A. and Glenn Ranck of Cochranville, 12 grandchildren; Bradley Kilmer, Shannon Kilmer, Carla Kilmer Martin, Daniel Kilmer, Rhonda Martin, Tammi Kilmer, Jacinda Kilmer, Steven Kilmer, Bernice Kilmer, Sophia Ranck, Saleena Kilmer, Annika Ranck, 7 great grandchildren, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Ezra and Ella Kilmer, Jr of Ephrata, Ephraim and Lydia Kilmer of Penn-Yan, NY, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Erma and Irvin Frey of Mt. Forrest, ONT, Lena and Clarence Martin of Middlebury, IND, brother -in-law; Cyrus Kulp of Auburn, NY
Preceding him in death are his Stepmother, Mary Martin, sister, Edna Kilmer Kulp, son-in-law, Lloyd Martin, and brother, Floyd Kilmer.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Millmont Mennonite Church, 1300 Millmont Road, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 with Jonathan Schmidt, Nathan Reiff, Roy Longenecker, David Swartzentruber, and Lewis Hoover, officiating ministers.
Interment will be in the Millmont Mennonite Church Cemetery.
