Orville E. Zimmerman, 86, of Mifflinburg entered into rest at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, January 09, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on January 04, 1932 in Mifflinburg, the son of the late Isabel (Pontius) and Lester L. Zimmerman. On May 07, 1955, at the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene he married the former Jacqueline Beverly Raker, who passed away on April 26, 2005.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on January 5, 1956.
Orville worked as a self-employed electrician.
He was a member of the Union County Sportsman Club, and a lifetime member of New Berlin America Legion, Mifflinburg VFW, National Rifle Association, Union County Social Club, and the Forty and Eight Club.
Surviving are four daughters: Annette Zimmerman and Ray Kline of McClure, Mary and Titus Hoover, Jr. of Port Trevorton, Kathy Zimmerman and Joseph Cogley of Mifflinburg, Lisa and Steven Wagner of Mifflinburg; 8 grandchildren, David Stahl, Heather Sellers, Colby Hoover, Jennifer Strawser, Jackie Showalter, Jamie Prutzman, Jessica Zimmerman, and Cody Raker; 13 great grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Russell and Jane Zimmerman of Millmont, Clifford Zimmerman of New Berlin, Roy and Dawn Zimmerman of Forksville, and Robert Zimmerman of Jersey Shore.
Family and friends are invited to the graveside service with full military honors accorded by veterans from Mifflinburg American Legion at 11:00 am on Friday at the Mifflinburg Cemetery, with Pastor Butch Woolsey, officiating.
