Margaret Jane (Forbes) Hoy

December 10, 1928 — April 22, 2018

Margaret "Marnie" Jane (Forbes) Hoy, born on December 10, 1928, in State College, to the late A. H. and Frances Ford Forbes, passed away at the age of 89, on April 22, 2018, at Foxdale Village in State College.

Marnie graduated from State College Area High School in 1946, and Penn State College (now University). She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a volunteer, then a receptionist at Centre Community Hospital (now Mount Nittany Medical Center) for 21 years.

Marnie was married to the late Richard W. "Dick" Hoy for 47 years. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann Hoy; and by her sister, Helen "Minki" Bischoff. Marnie is survived by three daughters, Julie A. Hoy-Ryland (Terry), of State College, Nancy Hoy Farquhar (Dann), of Elgin, Ill. and Mary Lou Hoy Walker (Ron), of Bellefonte. She is also survived by 19 grand- children; 15 great grandchildren;a brother, Allen H. Forbes, of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marnie enjoyed travel, photography, crossword puzzles, and reading. She was an avid bridge player for most of her life. Marnie and Dick were enthusiastic Penn State football fans, season ticket holders since the early 1960's, who faithfully attended and cheered on the team. She was fearless about modern technology!

Marnie was a member of University Baptist and Brethren Church in State College. For over 20 years Marnie was a member of People of the Covenant Bible study group. She was a volunteer at The Mommy Shoppe and involved in Centre County 100 Women Who Care.

There will be visitation hours Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Foxdale Village (upstairs living room), 500 E. Marylyn Ave., State College, and Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 1-2 p.m., in the auditorium at Foxdale, with services immediately following. Please feel free to wear bright colors.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Marnie's name to University Baptist and Brethren Church, 411 S. Burrowes St., State College, PA 16801, or the Employee Appreciation Fund at Foxdale Village, 500 E. Marylyn Avenue, State College, PA 16801.
