Leona Jean Kline

November 15, 1942 — June 2, 2014

After a courageous battle with cancer, Leona “Jean” (Wilson) Kline, 71, of 127 Water Street, New Berlin went to be with the Lord at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 02, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born at home on November 15, 1942 in Mifflinburg, the daughter of Rose L. (Bilger) Wilson of Lewisburg and the late Robert F. Wilson.  On October 23, 1959, she married Rodney D. Kline, who survives.

Jean was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School class of 1960.

Jean worked for many years as a seamstress at Middleburg Sportswear in New Berlin.  She also worked at Brynwood Hotel, Moyer’s Egg Farm, and for the John family in which she so enjoyed.

She was attending Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Montandon.

Jean was the ultimate homemaker, who was selfless and humble.  She was an endearing wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.  She had a gift of making everyone feel welcome in her home with her kind words and constant flow of her baked good, which she felt that she had to prepare and serve, no matter how sick she was.   She was the person to unload your troubles onto because of her empathetic ear, non-judgmental ways, and her ability to turn an unpleasant situation into a laugh.  Her witty comments and sense of humor always filled the room with laughs and lifted everyone’s spirits.  She was so kind, always mindful to never  say anything that could possibly hurt someone’s feelings. Her husband of 54 years was also her high school sweetheart.  She focused on caring for him, making him happy, and feeding him the only thing he would eat-“Jean’s cooking.” She was “best friend” to each family member, protecting us from worry, even until her final words.  Her absence will be immensely felt because she was such an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. May she forever enjoy singing  and dancing  with the angels and saints in her new body through Christ.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Mark Kline of Shamokin, Rodney D. Kline, Jr and companion Brenda Clark of New Berlin, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and David Jacka of Mifflinburg, Pamela and Jack Luhrman of Lewisburg, six grandchildren, Michael Jacka and wife Chrystal, Matthew Jacka, Kristen Showalter and husband Cain, Madelyn Luhrman, Brett Luhrman, Hannah Luhrman, 12 great- grandchildren;  Hayley, Emilee, Olivia, Sarah, Alexis, Kiara, Tayah, Lily, Chloe, Hayden, Leona, Riley, one brother and sister-in-law, Larry J. and Carol Wilson of Millmont, one sister, Linda S. Wilson of Millmont, her mother, Rose L. Wilson of Lewisburg, and her mother-in-law, Edna L. Propst of Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Brittany M. (Kline) Mook.

In honor of Jean’s wishes, there will be no public services.
