Lear E Shambach, 89, of Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, PA, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2021, succumbing to COVID-19.
Lear was born February 26, 1931, in Middleburg, PA, the son of the late LeRoy F and Madeline Bowersox Shambach. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Ettinger Shambach, who predeceased him in 2013.
Together they parented two sons, Bradley E (Laney) Shambach, of Millmont, PA, and Gregory L Shambach, of Middleburg, PA.
Lear graduated from Middleburg High School in 1949. He worked most of his life in road construction, retiring from Eastern Industries (formerly Faylor-Middlecreek).
He also was a United Methodist minister for over 40 years, serving many parishes including Freeburg, Dressler's Ridge, and Ebenezer. After his retirement, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, PA.
Also surviving are his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Bethany (Aaron) Zechman of Middleburg, PA and daughters Maya, Macie, and Madelyn; Jeremy (Meghan) Shambach of New Berlin, PA and daughter Scarlet; Natalie Shambach of Mifflinburg, PA, and daughter Dehlia Grace; and Shawn Swinehart of Montoursville, PA.
Also surviving is a brother Ronald (Donna) Shambach of Middleburg, PA.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy F Shambach, Jr., who died in infancy.
A private grave-side service will be held at the convenience of the family. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service to celebrate Lear's life will be held at a later date.
