Katie Martin Zimmerman, 82, of 1233 Strickler Road, Mifflinburg formerly of Lancaster county, passed away at 3:48 AM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Elvin Z. and Mary Ella Zimmerman.
She was born on August 5, 1933 in New Holland, PA, a daughter of the late David G. and Hettie (Martin) Zimmerman. On November 17, 1953, in Lancaster County she married Mahlon Z. Zimmerman, who passed away on February 20, 2002.
Mrs. Zimmerman was a homemaker. She was a member of Groffdale Old Order Mennonite Church Conference for over 60 years.
Surviving are two daughters and spouses, Mary Ella wife of the late Nathan Z. Martin of Millmont, Vera wife of Luke H. Weaver of Lewisburg, two sons and spouses, Harvey Z. and Mabel (Oberholtzer) Zimmerman of Fortuna, Missouri, Elvin Z. and Mary Ella (Martin) Zimmerman of Mifflinburg, 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, one sister, Ella wife of Ammon Z. Martin of Martinsburg, PA, four brothers, David M. Zimmerman husband of the late Esther (Nolt) of Ephrata, Aaron M. Zimmerman husband of Ada (Burkholder) of Dundee, NY, Noah M. Zimmerman husband of Lizzie (Martin) of Roaring Springs, PA, Daniel M. husband of Erla (Reiff) Zimmerman of Shippensburg.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Nathan Z. Martin, five brothers, Martin M. Zimmerman, John M. Zimmerman, Jacob M. Zimmerman, Elam M. Zimmerman, and Joseph M. Zimmerman.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 PM on Tuesday and from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the Residence of Elvin and Mary Ella Zimmerman, 1233 Strickler Road, Mifflinburg. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Groffdale “Frame” Mennonite Church, 90 Church Road, Leola, with the Bishop Ammon Weaver, officiating.
Interment will be in the Groffdale Mennonite Church Cemetery, Leola PA.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Nathan Lee Martin, Larry Zimmerman, Nevin Weaver, Daryl Weaver, James Zimmerman, Lawrence Zimmerman.
