JUNE SPRINGER HYMAN

June 28, 1917 — August 12, 2013

JUNE SPRINGER HYMAN passed to everlasting life on August 12, 2013. She lived a vibrant and full life filled with joy and love for family and friends, and service dedicated to God, church, and community.

She was born on June 28, 1917, in Milton, Pennsylvania, to William and Elizabeth Springer. In 1937, she wed Drew Hyman of Winfield and had a long and happy marriage.

She graduated from Milton High School in 1935. A few years later, she graduated from the Harrisburg School of Beauty Culture. She owned and operated a beauty shoppe in the former Hyman Hotel in Winfield for 67 years.

Since 1941, June was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Winfield. She was a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She volunteered for missions in Puerto Rico and St. Vincent. One of her favorite activities was working as a "coater" of Christmas and Easter chocolates, which were sold to benefit the missions and outreach work of the church.

She loved music and played the piano, banjo, and ukulele. A sports fan, she was an avid rooter for Penn State, the Phillies, and the Eagles. She enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years with Drew and her two sons, Drew Jr. and Michael.

She was preceded in death by her husband Drew Walton Hyman, her daughter
Suzanne Elizabeth O'Connor Shoaff, and sisters Thelma Strahan and Lois Rearick. Surviving are two sons, Drew Jr. of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, and Michael of Middleburg, Florida. June was appreciative of the love and support of her daughters-in-law, Donna Baker Hyman and Rebecca Wagner Hyman.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Kelly Hyman Burkitt, Stacy Hyman Gold, Christine O'Connor, Jeffrey Hyman, Suzanne O'Connor Chapel, Kimberly Hyman Potter, and Maureen O'Connor Liszka. She doted on her nine great-grandchildren, and enjoyed many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in honor of June Hyman for outreach and missions to
Trinity United Methodist Church, 24 State Rd. 304, Winfield, PA 17889.
