James Oliver "Jim" Diehl, 77, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 6:20 AM on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center.
He was born on April 12, 1941 in West Buffalo Township, the son of the late John O. and Esther G. (Reber) Diehl. On June 28, 1964 he married the former Peggy M. Roush, who survives. They have 54 years of wedded memories.
He was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School Class of 1961. In December of 1961, Jim entered into the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in November of 1965.
Jim retired from Yorktowne Cabinetry.
Jim was a lifetime member of Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg. He was a member and past-president of the PA Trappers Association, and a member of the N.R.A., Union County Sportsman Club, and Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Association.
He had a love for orchids. Jim had received many awards for his orchid's and he was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Orchid Society. In addition, Jim enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and camping.
Surviving are two sons, James O. Diehl, Jr. and his wife Kathy A. of New Berlin, Steven F. Diehl and Angie Keiser of Lewisburg; a grandson, Zachary S. Diehl and his wife Hannah G. of South Williamsport; and a sister, E. Elizabeth Diehl of Lewisburg.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11, with Pastors Matt Abberger and Leslie L. Conklin, officiating.
Interment with full military honors accorded by veterans of the Mifflinburg American Legion and other area veterans will be in the Hillside Bible Church Cemetery.
