She was born on April 19, 1923 in Middlefield, OH, a daughter of the late Valentine D. and Anna (Bender) Miller. On June 23, 1942, in Lynnhaven, VA she married Abraham J. Peachy, whom passed away on May 16, 2000. His death broke a martial union of nearly 59 years.
Irene was a homemaker. She enjoyed hospitality, baking, gardening, and making quilts.
She was a member of the Shady Grove Christian Fellowship Church, Mifflinburg.
Surviving are four sons and five daughters-in-law, J. Ray and Annie Peachy of Lewisburg, LeRoy V. and Betty Peachy of Thomas, OK, David L. and Elizabeth Peachy of New Columbia, William A. and Linda Peachy of East Waterford, Pa, Edna Peachy of Lewisburg, one daughter and son-in-law, Lois I. and Ben Friesen of Lewisburg, 41 grandchildren, 44, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son John L. Peachy, one granddaughter, Rhoda Kay Peachy, one grandson, Joel Peachy, four sisters, Ida Miller, Cora Yoder, Lydia Sellick, Annie Yoder, and one brother, Elmer Miller.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday at the Shady Grove Christian Fellowship Church, 5327 Buffalo Rd, Mifflinburg , where the funeral will be held 10 am on Friday, with ministers, Simon Bender, Samuel Nisly, David King, and Joe Peachy, officiating.
Interment will be in the adjourning church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Peachy, LeRoy Peachy, Ben Friesen, David Peachy, William Peachy, and Omar Peachy.
