Hall Edward Solomon

August 2, 1930 — June 17, 2019

Hall Edward "Solly" Solomon, 88, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 5:00 pm on Monday, June 17, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on August 2, 1930 in New Berlin, the son of the late Ellwood and Helen (Campbell) Solomon. On Feb. 14, 1951 he married the former Dorothy Mae Trevitz, who survives. They have had 68 years of wedded memories.

He attended the New Berlin school until 8th grade and then enrolled into Lewisburg High School; he was a four letter football player and graduated from the Class of 1949. In September of 1950, Hall entered into the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in September of 1954.

Hall was hired as a policeman for the Mifflinburg Police Department, and then was appointed Chief of Police retiring on August 13, 1991, a post he held for 38 years. He later served as the District Justice of Magisterial in Mifflinburg and the Mifflinburg Mayor for two terms.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police of which he served as the Secretary, Pennsylvania Sheriffs Association, Life Member of the Mifflinburg Hose Co. #1, Watsontown Masonic Lodge # 401, Mifflinburg American Legion and Honor Guard, founding member of National Law Enforcement Museum, Mifflinburg Moose, Union Co. Sportsman Club, and one of the six founding members of the Buffalo Valley Sportsman's Club.

He was instrumental in starting the 8th street softball fields with the lower field dedicated in his honor. He was also known by many as the 'Marring Man', as he married hundreds of couples over the years.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Hall E. Solomon, Jr. and wife Courtney of Fort Pierce, FL, one daughter, Cindy D. Styers and husband Joseph of Mifflinburg, one granddaughter, Brandy J. Styers of Mifflinburg, two great grandchildren, Shayla Heimbach and Bon Styers, two step granddaughters, Francesca and Isabella Ross.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Solomon, Richard Solomon, Carl Solomon, and one sister, Gloria Bowersox.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, June, 20, 2019 from 10 to 11 on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Adamo's, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11.

Interment with full military honors accorded by veterans of the Mifflinburg American Legion and other area veterans will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
