Glenn Theodore Zellers, 93, of 116 Old Matawan Road, Old Bridge, N.J., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, March 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on Dec. 12, 1930, in Mifflinburg, Glenn was a son of the late William H. and Susie Mary (Steese) Zellers.
Glenn's journey in the U.S. Army, beginning in 1948, was a testament to his unwavering dedication and courage. Affiliated with Company C, 724th Transportation Battalion, 8th Army during his service in Korea, he selflessly dedicated himself to the noble task of operating diesel railroad engines, ensuring vital supplies reached the front lines. His commitment and bravery earned him the esteemed rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army upon his honorable discharge.
He married Kathleen V. (Reilly) Zellers on May 6, 1950, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Mifflinburg, officiated by Rev. Fred D. Pick.
He attended Mifflinburg High School. He retired from the General Motors Assembly Plant, Linden, N.J. in 1992 after 39 years.
He found joy in a variety of hobbies, including fishing, hunting, assembling numerous train sets that he loved to enjoyed with his great grandchildren, and working on his cars and Harley motorcycles.
Additionally, he cherished moments spent with his family in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen, his daughter, Cecilia A. (Zellers) Prenderville, and his granddaughter, Susan Marie Wilkie. He is also preceded by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Robert Ranck, Ruth and Robert Camp, as well as two brothers and a sister-in-law: Robert and Rose Wilson and Marlin Zellers.
He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Wanda Zellers, and Edward Zellers of Mifflinburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn R. and Viola (Knight) Zellers of Easton, and Joseph C. and Michelle (Thaiss) Zellers of Jackson, N.J.; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia E. (Zellers) and Alfred G. Wilkie Jr. of Jackson, N.J.; son-in-law, Kevin Prenderville, Sr. of Old Bridge, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Glenn Troy, Kevin Jr. , Lori, Elizabeth, Lynn, Kellyanne, Aaron and Brittany; and 13 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Conner, Cade, Hunter, Collin, Max, Cole, Katie, Ryleigh, Lillie, Cynthia, Harrison and Luna.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Adamo Funeral Home, 16 E. Walnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Mitchell officiating.
Burial will full military honors accorded by veterans from the Mifflinburg American Legion and Mifflinburg VFW will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery, West Buffalo Township, Union County.
