Glenn W. Jows, 81, Mifflinburg
Glenn William Jows of 221 Gast Road, Mifflinburg, entered into Eternal life at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 13, 1935 in Lewisburg, he was the son of Hazel Beatrice (Wagner) and the late William Henry Jows. Glenn was lucky enough to find love twice in his life. His first wife, who preceded him in death, Patricia M. Waltman. He remarried on October 17, 2003 to the former Susan Hassinger who survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Mifflinburg High School, and was a member of the wrestling team from 10-12th grades. His father bought him his first car after winning his first wrestling match.
On November 25, 1958 Glenn joined the U.S. Army as a Medic; and served overseas until his honorable discharge on November 10, 1960 having received the Good Conduct Medal.
Upon returning home, Glenn began working at American Home Foods. He was the Chief Steward on the second shift and retired after 41 years of service. He joined the United Food and Commercial Works International Union, Local 38, where he served as Union Steward, Secretary and Treasurer.
When not spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed lumbering, woodworking and deep-sea fishing with his father. Glenn was an avid motorcyclist, and was one of the original members of the Buffalo Valley Motorcycle Club, which began in 1957.
In addition to his wife of 13 years, he is survived by his children; Terry E. Jows of Emporium, PA; John E. Jows of Mifflinburg, PA; Celain J. Teichman and her husband Marty of Laurelton, PA; Purnell W. Jows and his wife Pam of Scipio, IN; Audrey M. Jows of Mifflinburg, PA; 5 grandchildren; Brandon and wife Taylor Teichman, Ashley and husband Mark Fisher and Joshua and wife Brittany Teichman, Jace and wife Jessica Jows and Tyler Jows, 2 great-grandchildren; Aria Teichman and Brody Fisher; his stepchildren; Nathan M. Sauers and his wife Amber of Riverside, PA; Benjamin M. Sauers and his wife Amy of Gilbertsville, PA; 5 step grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Abby, Madison and Colin Sauers; 2 sisters; Patricia J. Bowersox of Mifflinburg and Celain J. Sholter and her husband Donald of New Columbia.
The family will receive friends on Friday form 6 – 8 pm at the Adamo’s, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg and on Saturday from 10-10:30, where the funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM with Pastor Alice Rauch, officiating.
Burial with full military honors accorded by local Veterans from the Mifflinburg American Legion, Post 410 will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
