George W. “Popeye” Oldt, 82, of formerly of Route 304, Winfield, entered into rest on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Peter Paul and Elva Minerva (Eberhart) Oldt. On Sept. 6, 1952, he married the former Mary E. Kistler who survives.
George was a 1952 graduate of Lewisburg High School. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army and the National Guard.
George worked as a truck driver for various area trucking companies.
He was a member of the St. John’s Union Church of Dry Valley, and Benfer-Miller Post 957, American Legion, New Berlin.
George enjoyed working on puzzle books and jig saw puzzles, playing Skip Bo, riding Harley’s, and growing Morning Glory flowers around his porch.
Surviving are three sons and three daughters-law, George A. and Gloria Oldt, of Bellefonte, David M. and Zoe Oldt, of Pleasant Grove, and Paul C. and Kathy Oldt, of Watsontown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda L. and Robert Richards, of Mifflinburg, and Penny A. Butters, of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren, Joshua D. Oldt, Jacob M. Oldt, Nicole E. Lynn, Michael R. Zechman, Jay A. Richards, Hannah L. Richards; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Paul D. Oldt; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence E. and Gloria A. Oldt.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Union Church of Dry Valley, 3667 Route 304, Winfield, where the memorial service will be held at 2:30, with the Rev. Ricky Phillips officiating.
Interment will be in Guyer’s Cemetery, Dry Valley.
