George “Jack” Secrist Dodge, 75, of 728 Market Street, Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 6:50 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on July 10, 1941 in Sunbury, the son of the late Theron L. and Hazel (Gilbert) Dodge. On February 20, 1965, at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren he married the former Sonia Wert, who survives.
He was a graduate of Lewisburg High School Class of 1959.
Jack served as the Warden of the Union County Jail for 25 years, where he started as a corrections officer. He and his wife owned and operated The Mifflinburg Glass Shop for 20 years. Earlier in life he worked at Pennsylvania House Furniture.
He served as a committeeman on the Union County Republican Committee, and was a former scoutmaster with the Mifflinburg Boy Scout Trop.
Jack enjoyed woodworking, fishing, attending flea markets, building furniture, gardening, and feeding the squirrels and birds.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sonia of 51 years are, two daughters, Nadine M. Dodge of Philadelphia, Christine R. Dodge of Delaware, two sisters, Nancy Sechler of Lewisburg, Sara Ellen Biro of Allentown.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace D. Herman, Shirley Eisenhower, and three brothers, Robert Dodge, Donald Dodge, K. Gilbert Dodge.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, where the memorial service will be held at 11, with Pastor Eric Reamer, officiating.
Interment will be Lewisburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George`s memory may be sent to the Mifflinburg Community Association, 104 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg Pa 17844.
