Floyd Ray Snyder, 89, of Mifflinburg most recently residing at Rhodesmere at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village entered into rest on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was born on November 25, 1928 in Kelly Township, Union County, the son of the late John Edwin and Edna Mary (Gessner) Snyder. On June 06, 1959, he married the former Dorothy Marion (Eisenhuth), who passed away on December 09, 1987.
Ray was a graduate of Lewisburg High School Class of 1946.
He was a veteran serving during two wars, first with the US Army during WWII and then during the Korean Conflict with the US Air Force. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He also played in various military bands.
Ray retired after 30 years of service as a clamp assembler at General Interior, Pennsylvania House Furniture, Lewisburg.
He was a member of Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, where he attended the Sunbeam Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge # 370 F. & A.M.
Ray played the tuba with the Sunbury City Band, Danville Legion Band, Selinsgrove Adult Band, and Milton Jarrett Norman Post #201, American Legion.
Surviving is a nephew, Lynn Snyder of New Columbia, and niece, Doreen Kay Thompson, of Richmond, VA, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Kevin Ray Snyder, twin brother, Lloyd Leroy Snyder, brother Clarence H. Snyder, half brother, Bruce E. Snyder.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 on Tuesday at the Adamo’s, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg. The funeral will be held at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Nathan Druckenmiller, officiating.
Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery, Mifflinburg PA.
