Emogene L. Boyer, 87, formerly of Lewisburg, Pa, most recently residing in Jensen Beach entered in to rest on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Brookdale, Jensen Beach, Florida.
Emogene was born on November 12, 1932 in Tams Mountain, WV, the daughter of the late Grover L. and Sylvia Uversal (Huffman) Taylor. On October 13, 1951 she married George Robert Boyer, who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of the 1950 class of Mifflinburg Area High School.
She was an active volunteer in the community of Lewisburg. In addition to being a Sunday school teacher at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cowan, Emogene was a Brownie Leader, lunch lady at Kelly Elementary School, volunteered at the Packwood House Museum, and sewed uniforms for the Lewisburg Band's majorettes in the 1970's.
Among her many interests were gardening, sewing and quilting. Emogene made a trip to Vermont yearly to sell her handmade quilts to stores for resale. She also owned The Grey Barn Antique Store which she ran out of the family farm on Rt 15, and eventually moved into town with Honey Bear Antiques. Emogene worked at Moore Business Forms for 10 years and was a Mary Kay representative. She grew flowers that were sold to a local florist and was an avid floral arranger.
Her self-published book, Mountain of Memories chronicled her formative years growing up on Tam's Mountain in West Virginia. She enjoyed sharing her book with relatives and friends who always commented how delightful it was to read.
Emogene and Bob enjoyed wintering in Jensen Beach, FL after he retired in 1995. Her favorite activity was walking on the beach.
She is survived by one son, Kelton R. Boyer of Nagano, Japan, two daughters, Brenda Boyer of Houston, TX, Glenda and Michael Herron of Gulf Shores, AL, four grandchildren, Dr. Mark DiGiacomo of Jersey City, NJ, Jason DiGiacomo of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Michael Cammarata of Vancouver, WA, and Matthew Cammarata of Oklahoma City, OK. Her older sister Addalene Boop lives in Jacksonville, FL and her brother-in-law, Millard (Moon) Boyer lives in Mifflinburg, PA. Her sister, Genevieve Dreese, preceded her in death.
Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
