Elvin Dale Hostetter, 83, of Winfield entered into rest at 1:00 AM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was born on June 13, 1934 in Londonderry Twp., a son of the late Thomas and Kathryn (Patrick) Hostetter. On October 05, 1952, at the Hershey Church of the Brethren, he married Joyce Anna Eshleman, who passed away on March 10, 1998.
Elvin worked as the Plant Manager at AMP Inc. of Selinsgrove, until his retirement in 1997. After he retired he served as an Associate Pastor at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, and later at Windward Ministries, Winfield. Over the years he supported numerous ministries and missions, and provided marriage counseling to many couples.
Elvin was a member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren.
Elvin enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop, fishing out of his pond and hunting.
Surviving are five sons and daughters-in-law; Ricky and Peggy Hostetter of St. Thomas, Pa, John and Beth Hostetter of Willow Street, PA, Steven and Brenda Hostetter of Honolulu, HI, Timothy and Debbie Hostetter of Selinsgrove, David Hostetter and wife Rebecca Newton of Winfield; one daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Alan Hess of Jersey Shore, PA; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Saturday at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Rd, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 2:30, with his grandson Pastor Jason Hostetter of Windward Ministries, officiating.
Interment will be in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elvin's memory may be sent to New Berlin Food Bank, C/O Windward Ministries, 5924 Stein Lane, Winfield, PA 17889.
