Donald A. Day, 88, of Mifflinburg, peacefully entered into rest to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was born on December 2, 1936 in Clintondale, PA, the son of the late Ellery H. and Laura E. (Wolfe) Day. He attended the Mifflinburg Area School District. On June 27, 1959, he married and spent more than 65 loving years with wife Nancy (Musser) Day, who survives.
Donald and his twin brother, Ronald, owned and operated Day Brothers Contractors, building traditional and log homes locally and throughout the northeast for nearly 50 years. Before starting a business of their own, they both worked for George E. Carr as contractors.
Donald was a very loved and loving person, and cherished by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Since retiring, he enjoyed spending quality time with family. He had many hobbies, including tending to his fruit trees and garden, woodworking projects, and was a jack of all trades. He had been an attendee of Deliverance Chapel Church.
In addition to his loving wife Nancy, Donald is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Day, Jr. and Tracy of New Columbia, a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Danny Deivert of Mifflinburg, and eight grandchildren, Melissa Day, Timothy Day, Jeremy Day, Joshua Deivert, Ryan Deivert, Brittany Yearick, Shane Purvis, and Christina Purvis, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren. He has a sister, Helen and brother-in-law Dale Miller, and sister Florine and brother-in-law Melvin Beachel, and twin brother Ronald Day, along with five brothers and sisters-in-law John and Wanda Day, Gerald Hause, Richard and Patty Day, Dean and Barbara Day, and Boyd and Donna Day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother Edna Day, four sisters, Florence, June, Madeline, and Audrenna, and four brothers, Clifford, Larry, Ernest, and Terry, as well as grandson Cody.
Services will be conducted at a later date.
