On July 29 th , 2014 DAVID ALLEN YAGEL, age 68, of Sacramento CA, beloved son of the late Clair C. Yagel and Betty Barnitz Yagel formerly of Mifflinburg, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord. Although raised in Wheaton MD, Dave spent many happy days in this area with his Grandparents: Leroy and Florence Rote Yagel and Mr and Mrs Nevin Barnitz; and Aunts and Uncles: Gibby (Iney) Yagel, Jim (Betty) Barnitz, and Myra (Ernie) Kocher, all of whom predeceased him. Dave also loved central PA for his Penn State ties. It was his alma mater (earning a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1968) and that of his father, two brothers, and “adopted Uncle” Quentin Snook. David was an Eagle Scout and his love of the outdoors caused him to move to Lake Tahoe CA after college. In 1977 he settled in Sacramento, where he earned his MBA, and worked for the rest of his life. Dave loved the Lord and his church, serving Northminster Presbyterian in a myriad of roles, including Elder. He went on many US disaster-recovery mission trips. Memorial services were held in Sacramento and in Gettysburg – where Dave would enjoy the Yagel lake cottage each summer.
Family was very important to Dave. He cared for his father full time for 7 yrs, and will be buried with his parents and baby sister, Suzanne. Dave will be greatly missed by his siblings; Scott (Lynne) Yagel of Chesapeake VA, Debi (Tom) Abbamonte of Damascus MD, and Gary (Sandy) Yagel of Olney, MD; “Aunt” Helen Jean Snook of Mifflinburg; his cherished nephews and nieces and their children; his cousins and their families, including those living in Pennsylvania: Carol Mullany, Nan Ruhl, Doug Yagel, Robin Webb, Roberta Shaffer, Gerald Wagner, and the family of the late Tom Yagel.
Family and friends are welcome at the service of Interment at East Side Cemetery, Mifflinburg, PA, on Sunday Sept 7 th at 12:00 noon by Dave’s brother, Rev Gary Yagel.
