David Eugene Haines

David Eugene Haines, 85, of Mifflinburg passed away peacefully with his loving family surrounding him at 8:35 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Evangelical Community Hospital.

He was born on March 24, 1934 in West Beaver Twp, Snyder Co., a son of the late George Paul and Arie Annie Alice (Bickle) Haines.  He was one of 16 children and is preceded in death by 10 of his siblings.  On August 23, 1968, he married the former Ruth E. (Beck) Richie, who survives.

He was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School Class of 1952.

Dave was a former farmer, business owner, and wood worker and was considered a “jack of all trades” by his family and friends.

He was an active member of the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren.

Dave enjoyed quilting, fishing, and camping.

Surviving are in addition to his loving wife Ruth; daughters and spouse; Donna Lenig, Barbara and Al Yessel and Lisa Cook, sons and spouse, Patrick and Nivine Richie and Andrew Haines, as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, 46 Brethren Church Rd, Mifflinburg, followed by a celebration of life service at 11 with his Pastor Eric Reamer, officiating.

Interment will be in the Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
