David A. Dietrich

David A. Dietrich, 69, of Mifflinburg passed away at 7:41 pm on Thursday, November 07, 2013 at Evangelical Community Hospital.

He was born on June 12, 1944 in Lewisburg, the son of the late John Klingman Dietrich and Florence (Snyder) Dietrich. On August 27, 1966, he married the former Barbara J. Leitzel, who preceded him in death on June 23, 2012.

David graduated from Mifflinburg High School Class of 1962.

He was member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Cowan, where he taught young men's Sunday School Class.

David was a Farmer his entire life. He also worked as an AI Technician for Curtis Breeding Service, as well as employed at Lewisburg Builder Supply for Seven Years.

He was a member of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau for many years where he held several offices, member of Mifflinburg Young Farmers Association and served as State Young Farmers President in 1974 as well as other state offices throughout the years, served as Union County Dairy 4H leader for 20 plus years. He received several conservation awards for outstanding farm stewardship. He was awarded honorary Keystone Degree from the State FFA association. While in FFA he received one of the highest honors, the North Central Star Farmer Award, as well as multiple other accomplishments. He also belonged to several other agriculture related organizations.

David was a member of the Mifflinburg School Board Association, where he served as President and Secretary, served on the CSIU board and held office of President, served with the Union County West End Fair Association, a member of Mifflinburg Kiwanis. He was also involved in local politics.

David's hobbies included: woodworking, Lionel trains, Ham radios, showing Dairy Cattle with his children, and attending county fairs.

Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, D. Anthony Dietrich and companion Michelle Sanders, Jonathan A. and Melissa Dietrich all of Mifflinburg; two daughters and sons-in-law; Kimberly A. and Darryl Sharkey of Creedmoor, NC, Rebecca and Jonathan Boop of Mifflinburg, 11 grandchildren, Amber Sanders, Joshua Dietrich, Olivia Dietrich, Benjamin Dietrich, Hannah Boop, Vanessa Boop, Marissa Boop, Cameryn Sharkey, Addisyn Sharkey, Bryson Sharkey, Autumn Dietrich, one great-grandchild, Kamryn Rotzler, one sister and brother-in-law, Karen L. and Dennis Cover of Selinsgrove, one brother-in-law and sister in-law, Robert H.and Gail A. Leitzel of Bloomsburg.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the viewing from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, and from 10 to 11 AM on Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2599 Church Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. James H. Gold, officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the interment at the church social hall.

Interment will be in the Dry Valley Cemetery.
