Darlene Marie Benfer, 66, of 2918 New Berlin Mountain Road, Lewisburg entered into rest at 6:13 PM on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her residence.
She was born on October 28, 1945 in Lewisburg, the daughter of the late Stewart S. and Louella Mae (Bowersox) Bingaman. On July 06, 1963, by the Rev. Fred Pick she married John Earnest Benfer, who survives. Together, they shared 49 years of memories.
Darlene was a homemaker. She loved her grandchildren, dogs, and family. She enjoyed spending time with family and playing quoits.
Darlene was a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post #957.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter; Tina M. Benfer and her companion, Harry L. Hummel, Jr of Winfield, one son and a daughter-in-law; Michael L. and Sherri L. Benfer of Lewisburg, three grandchildren and spouses; Chris and Amanda Davis, J. Luke and Beth Benfer, Brett Benfer, six great-grandchildren; Sydney Davis, Joseph Davis, Samantha Davis, Nathan Davis, Abigail Davis, Jonathan James Benfer, one brother; Donald and Miriam Bingaman of Mifflinburg, three sisters; Helen Hugar of Snow Shoe, Nancy Prutzman of Mifflinburg, Lois and Paul Sheesley of Lewisburg, one brother-in-law; Frank Duke of Mifflinburg, one sister-in-law; Irene Bingaman of Mifflinburg.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Robert Bingaman, two sisters; Shirley Duke, Jean Swords, three brothers-in-law; Ken Hugar, Ken Prutzman, Rueben Swords.
A private graveside service will be conducted at New Berlin Cemetery.
