Cleon S Snyder

August 8, 1933 — October 26, 2016

Cleon Sterling Snyder, 83, of 7919 Col. Kelly Road, Lewisburg passed away in his home at 4:39 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Born on August 08, 1933 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Grace Elizabeth (Ross) Snyder.  On December 15, 1956, he married the former Janet Gertrude Young, who survives.  Together, they shared nearly 60 years of memories.

Cleon was a 1951 graduate of Lewisburg High School.  On August 18, 1952, he entered in the U.S. Air Force.  During his 4 years service, he received The Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal; and was honorable discharged on July 30, 1956.

Cleon worked as a machine specialist at Yorktowne Cabinetry for 38 years, retiring in 1995.

Cleon attended Hillside Bible Church.

He was a life member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsman Club.

He played softball for Forest Hill in the 1960’s and later with the Old Timers League in Mifflinburg.  Cleon enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music, but mostly; spending time with his children, grandchildren and families.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons; Jerry S. Snyder and his companion Sandra Truesdale of Lewisburg, Larry G. Snyder and his wife Kim of Mifflinburg, Kevin R. Snyder and his wife Lisa of Mifflinburg; his daughter, Laurie J. Mast and husband Joseph of Lewisburg, 7 grandchildren; Brian Mast and his friend Miss Stevie Fowler of Alabama, JoAnna (Mast) Smith and her husband Philip of Halifax, Patrick Snyder and his wife Kayla of Mifflinburg, Elisabeth (Snyder) Phillips and her husband David, Rebekah (Snyder) Hyer and her husband Jason of Mifflinburg, Aaron C. Snyder of Mifflinburg, and Sarah L. Snyder of Mifflinburg; 10 great-grandchildren, Wilson Hyer, Bently Hyer, Olivia Snyder, Savanna Snyder, Keaton Phillips, Quinn Phillips, Kamden Phillips, Mason Phillips, Rory Smith and Conner Smith.  He is also survived by a brother, Gene Snyder and his wife Ruth of Buckhorn; a sister, Janet Ward and her husband Max of Lewisburg; a sister-in-law, Laurabelle Snyder Lloyd of Lewisburg; and a half-brother, Merrill E. Snyder of Lewisburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother; Vivian Mae Snyder, his brother; Marvin Snyder and his sister, Valieida Mowery.

Family and friends are invited to visit the family from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Road, Mifflinburg.  The memorial service will be follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Michael Cutler, officiating.

Interment with full military honors accorded by veterans from the Lewisburg American Legion, Post 182 will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
