Charlotte Jean Frederick, 90, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 7:43 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Vicksburg, a daughter of the late Paul W. and Cecile (Boyer) Young. On April 24, 1954, she married Franklin Santee Frederick, who passed away on March 21, 1999.
Charlotte was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School, Class of 1945, attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College and graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers College, Class of 1949, with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education.
Charlotte worked as a kindergarten teacher in New Jersey and continued being a substitute teacher with the Allentown School District. She later retired in 1985 from Hess’s Department stores.
Charlotte was a woman of strong faith and was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
Charlotte traveled often with her sisters on bird watching trips around the country. She was always involved with her children and grandchildren, attending all the important events in their lives and traveled with them on many vacations. She also served as a Cub Scout Leader and Den Mother while living in Allentown. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid Penn State football fan.
Some of her interest included playing dominoes, gardening, and landscaping her property.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Steven F. and Gail Frederick of Jamison, Thomas A. and Diane Frederick of Newark, Del., Jeffrey W. Frederick of Spring Mills, R. Daniel and Kathy Frederick of Newark, Del.; six grandchildren, Heather, Matthew, Alyson, Erin, Stephanie, Douglas; two great grandchildren, Heidi, Caleb; three sisters, Mary Louise Denius of Milton, Eleanor Adams of Azle, Texas, Patricia A. Prichett of Lewisburg; and a brother, George Robert Young of Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Young Trapani; and a brother, Clair Young.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Adamo’s, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. John D. Yost, officiating.
Interment will be in the Hill Top Cemetery, Mifflinburg.
