Anthony Eugene Toluba

March 14, 1939 — June 13, 2024

Anthony "Tony" Eugene Toluba, 85, of Vicksburg, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday June 13, 2024 from Parkinsons complications albeit peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" Newberry Toluba to whom he was married for nearly 55 years.

Born March 14, 1939 in Framingham, Massachusetts, Tony was the eldest son of the late Anthony Toluba and Helena Ann Eastland Toluba of Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania.

He was a 1957 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and the first person in its history to win a district wrestling championship. He then graduated in 1963 from Pratt & Whitney's apprenticeship program in Hartford, Connecticut with certifications in machine shop and tool and die. Tony also received his teaching certificate from Temple University and taught machine shop at Milton Senior High School.

Most recently, Tony owned and operated the Vicksburg Inn for many years with his wife Peggy. Tony, a man for all seasons, enjoyed entertaining guests with his ukulele and debating the finer points of politics.

Above all, he loved life, was very kind and generous, and was a very loving man to his wife and children. A firm supporter of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and served honorably inCharlie Company 3rd Training Regiment during which time he received the marksmanship award for the M1 rifle high score.

Tony also served as president of the Susquehanna chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union from 2000 to 2014 and was a member of the Union County Sportsman's Club.

In addition to his wife, Tony is also survived by his sons, Tony Toluba of Chatham, Virginia, Jason Toluba of Eugene, Oregon, and Joel and Debbie Toluba, of York, Pennsylvania as well as numerous grandchildren.

Special thanks is given by Tony's family to Hospice of Evangelical.

A private celebration of Tony's life will be held for friends and family at a later date.
