Anna H. (Reber) Smith

Anna Hazel (Reber) Smith, 87, of Mifflinburg went to be with the Lord at 01:50 AM on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Riverwoods.

A native of Union County, she was born on November 19, 1930 in West Buffalo Township, a daughter of the late Isaiah Merand and Bertha Esther (Aikey) Reber.  On May 20, 1950, in Williamsport she married Alvah Leroy Smith, who survives. Together, they shared 63 years of memories.

She attended the one room schoolhouse in Pleasant Grove.

Anna was a homemaker and work part time at the gift shop at Evangelical Community Hospital.

She was a member of the Mifflinburg Christian Alliance Church for 40 years.  She also taught Sunday school and was a youth leader at Forest Hill United Methodist Church for many years.

Anna enjoyed sewing, painting, and bird watching.

Surviving are one daughter, Louann Ruth Benfer of Mifflinburg, one son and daughter-in-law, Alvie and Karen Snith of Mifflinburg, 8 grandchildren, Rebecca A. and husband Ryan McAvee, Beth Amy and husband Robert O’Connell, Benjamin and wife Amanda Benfer, Brythan Benfer, Johanna and husband Kevin Klinger, Isaac and wife Beth Wulfe, Emily and husband Shane Chamberlin, Aimee Smith, 3 great grandchildren, Calvin, David, Eva.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Rev David L. Benfer.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Tuesday at the Mifflinburg Christian Alliance, 80 Church Rd, where the funeral will be held at 11, with the Rev. Donald L. Hewlett, officiating.

Interment will be in the Zion Church Reformed Cemetery, Kratzerville.
