Ammon Weaver Martin

Ammon Weaver Martin, 81, of 805 Green Ridge Road, entered into rest at 9:25 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, surrounded by his family at his home.

Ammon was born February 3, 1937, in Narvon, Lancaster County, a son of the late Elam K. and Lydia W. (Weaver) Martin.  On Jan. 17, 1957, in Lancaster County, Ammon was united in marriage to Mary N. Hoover, who passed away on June 14, 2006.

He moved to Union County in March 1973 and became engaged in farming which he did until his retirement.

He was a member of Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church.

Mr. Martin is survived by six sons and five daughters-in-law, Nelson H. and Rebecca N. Martin of Wisconsin, Clarence H. and Edith N. Martin of Iowa, Reuben H. Martin of RR1 Middleburg, Alvin H. and Ella F. Martin of New York, Stephen H. and Rhoda R. Martin of Wisconsin and Daniel H.  and Naomi R. Martin of Middleburg; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Ella Mae and Norman N. Martin of Lewisburg, Lydia Ann Martin of Mifflinburg, Elva H. and Amos Z. Brubaker of Middleburg, Arlene H. and John David Hoover of Iowa, Erla H. and John Isaac Hoover of Kentucky, Erma H. Martin of Mifflinburg and Anna Mary and Esra O. Zimmerman of Winfield, 60 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother-in-law, Lydia W. Sensing of Kutztown, Elva Brubaker of Stevens, Bertha and Elam Leid of Kutztown.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mary Ella Martin, one sister, Ellen W. Martin, and five brothers, Aaron W. Martin, Harvey W. Martin, Alvin Martin, Floyd W. Martin, and Marvin W. Martin.

Family and friends will be received by the family at the Martin home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 before the time of the service.  Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, may 2, 2018 at the Martin home, 805 Green Ridge Road, Mifflinburg.  Further services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church, Beaver Run Road, Mifflinburg, officiating will be the church’s home ministry.

Interment will be in Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Landis Martin, Lawrence Brubaker, Luke Ray Martin, Ammon Lee Zimmerman, Harvey Martin, and Herman Hoover.
